Hello, I'm Ashleigh, founder of The Cosmetic Formulator and a certified cosmetic chemist.
I created TCF because I believe professional cosmetic formulation knowledge should be accessible to anyone with the curiosity and passion to learn.
My own training in cosmetic science showed me just how much knowledge, skill and scientific understanding goes into creating safe, stable and effective cosmetic products.
But it also inspired me to create a different kind of learning experience.
One that bridges the gap between highly academic cosmetic chemistry education and basic tutorials that teach you to follow recipes without truly understanding the science.
I wanted to make meaningful formulation knowledge easier to understand, more enjoyable to learn and practical to apply.
There's a lot of misinformation in the beauty industry.
Natural ingredients are often presented as inherently safe, while synthetic ingredients are sometimes unfairly portrayed as harmful. Scientific concepts are oversimplified, and ingredient choices can become driven by marketing claims rather than evidence.
I believe aspiring formulators deserve better.
